"Death To The Bullshit Artists of South Texas is a set of short stories that focuses on a subculture rock music scene in the Rio Grande Valley. The subculture in these stories depicts immense potential, which the bands and their members seem unaware of. It subconsciously aligns with the mentality of many people we've met and talked to from or in the Rio Grande Valley. It's almost as if they are not just fictional stories, but at least based on some truth. The theme and tone used by Torres blend the fictional aspect of the stories with an existing cultural mentality, allowing readers to become almost reminiscent of a time they were never part of. "
